Photo Resizer

1. Why would I want to use the Super Simple Photo Resizer?
Simple. It's easier to use than anything else out there. And it's free.

2. But there are more powerful photo resizing apps out there.
And they're more difficult to use. But you can use them as well. Think of it this way, would you want a backhoe to dig in your garden?

3. Can I crop pictures with Photo Resizer?
Not yet. We're planning on adding a very simple way to crop photos using the same super simple interface that Photo Resizer has now. Basically, you'll be able to crop photos by resizing Photo Resizer and positioning the picture in the real-time preview's view port. That is, you'll crop the picture to exactly what you see.

4. Can I use Photo Resizer and other photo resizing apps?
Absolutely. In fact, it's probably a good idea to have more than 1. Different apps suit different purposes and different people. There's nothing wrong with using 2 or more competing apps.

5. So when would I use Photo Resizer versus another app?
Most likely you would use Photo Resizer for most picture resizing that you want to do. However, there will be situations when you need to do more than what Photo Resizer can do. That's when you want to use something with more features. For example, currently Photo Resizer does not crop pictures, so for that you could use something like Paint.NET or The GIMP.

6. Can you add features to Photo Resizer?
Yes. But not if they make it complicated or difficult to use. There are lots of other programs out there with more features and consequently, a higher level of difficulty. We want Photo Resizer to be easy to use for anyone.

Free

1. This is free? What's the catch?
No catch. It's free.

2. So if it's free, how do you make money?
We're really trying hard to make a buck here so we can put food on the table and continue to write more Super Simple apps for you. We've found a few ways to do that:

a) Web site ads - When people click ads on our site, we get paid a few cents.
b) In-installer offers - When you install Super Simple apps, you can take advantage of an offer that lets us make a few cents.
c) Donations - Extremely few people donate, but pays for a small part of the web site bills, which is better than nothing.

The site is brand-spanking new, so we haven't made a dime yet, and can't tell you how the above are working out. Follow us on our personal blog to find out more though as we post information there.

3. What are "in-installer offers"?
Inside the installer you are presented with an offer like the Microsoft Bing toolbar or a trial for some useful software. All offers are completely up to you to accept or decline. In order to do this, we've partnered with OpenCandy. OpenCandy is a system provider to help software authors like us here at Super Simple. They take care of making sure that only reputable software authors are in their system, and that the software offers and installers all meet the same high standards. You can think of them as they guys that set the rules and enforce them.

4. Are you adware then?
No. The word "adware" implies that we're doing something underhanded and bad or hiding software on your system. That is not what we do. We only show ads 1 time when you install our software, and 1 time only. Nothing is left behind on your system and you will never see any other ads again. So we are ad supported, but not adware. To look at things another way, are the web sites you visit "adware" because they have ads on them? The mobile games on your phone? They all show you ads continually but nobody would call them adware because they're not doing anything malicious.

5. Are you sure you're not hiding anything?
Absolutely. In fact we're perfectly open and transparent. You can find out more about us at our personal blog, http://cynic.me. We post all kinds of stuff there, including detailed information about Super Simple.

6. Hey! Aren't cynics nasty?
Hahaha~! Well, if you think of "cynicism" in the modern sense, then perhaps. We mean "cynic" in the classical sense though. They were a colorful bunch! You can find out more about the ancient Greek cynics here. Make sure to read about Diogenes of Sinope, our favorite. Diogenes Laertius wrote a fantastic book, The Lives of Eminent Philosophers, with chapters on the cynics.

7. Aren't you kind of off topic now?
Yep.

About Super Simple

1. So how big is the team at Super Simple?
We are an army of 1!

2. Huh? Doesn't that make you slightly crazy for always using "we"?

Nope. In the business, it's call "the royal we". Instead of refering to oneself, we refer to the business/company/organization in the plural "we". It's very common. There is a vast number of software companies that are 1-man-bands, and they generally use the "royal we".

3. So why don't you just use "I"?

"We" sounds better. And we like the crazy feeling when we write it!

4. Then what about parts where you talk about your team and stuff?

We work with other people and companies as partners for some projects. For example, we recently worked on a project with 9 people and 3 companies. Most of those people were freelancers.

5. So where are you?
We live in Melbourne, Australia, but are originally from Canada. We have strong ties to South Korea.

6. Are you for hire?
Why yes we are! Contact us for more information.

7. Where did you get the idea for Super Simple?
(Shrugging off the royal we for a moment...) One day my wife came to me and asked how to resize photos. I'd shown her before with IrfanView, but it's fairly complicated with almost 30 options to choose from. So I figured that I'd write a nice simple photo resizing utility that took care of all the complexity and boiled it down into 1 simple option: size. Now I generally use Photoshop, but found myself using the photo resizer a lot because it was just as good for what I wanted to do. I already had another 2 photo utilities that I'd written, and figured that I could share them with everyone. And thus, Super Simple was born.

About Our Software

1. You said you have other photo utilities. Where are they?
The process of releasing software to the public is sometimes very long. You can find one at Renegade Minds, while the other isn't ready for the general public yet. We hope to release them here at Super Simple in the near future.

2. Can I suggest features for your software?
Absolutely! Please do! Contact us through the Support or Contact page.

3. Will you implement my suggestions?
Maybe. We don't know what it is yet. But if it fits into the concept for Super Simple, and it fits the software well, and it's practical for us to do, then there's a very good chance that we will.

4. Can I buy a branded version of your software for my organization?
Sure! We'd be happy to create a custom version for you. Contact us through the Contact page for inquiries.

5. Do you have any mobile versions coming out?

Let's leave that for a bit. In short yes, but we have a few other things coming first.

6. What other things?

Web-based versions of Super Simple apps. The first new one will be a web-based version of Photo Resizer. It's currently in the works.

7. Can I distribute your software?
We'd prefer that you link to our software instead. That ensures that people get the most recent version.

8. My firewall gave me a warning. What's going on?

That's the app checking to see if there's a new version available. If there is a new version, it will let you know so that you can download it and install it.
